Benefits of Coconut Flour

Jorge Cruise, author of The 100, said he loves carbs so much he had to go on a search for the healthiest flour alternatives he could find. When his low-carb flour quest was over, Cruise said he found the low-carb flours to be healthier as well as a good tool for weight loss. He also added that they are easy to incorporate into any recipe that calls for flour.

One of Cruise’s favorite low-carb flours is coconut flour. He said it is a wonderful flour because you can use at breading on your favorite fried recipes by simply adding a fourth cup of coconut flour for every cup of normal flour called for in the recipe.

  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1/4 cup Truvia Baking Blend
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons half & half
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking powder

Dr Oz Almond Flour 2-Minute Cake Directions:

  • Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir until moistened.
  • Pour 1/4 of the mixture into a bowl and cook in microwave for 2 minutes.
  • Repeat the first steps with the excess batter or put in the fridge to save it for another day.

Dr Oz Flaxseed Almond Butter Pancakes Recipe

Cruise said another great low-carb flour is flaxseed flour. He said it is a great addition to your favorite breakfast recipes for waffles,pancakes and muffins.

  • 1 cup Almond Milk
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/2 cup Flaxseed Flour
  • 2 tablespoons Almond Butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • Combine all ingredients and prepare pancakes as normal
